Teknica is SPVC's polycarbonate brand, available in both solid and hollow (twin-wall) polycarbonate sheets. Polycarbonate combines high strength with exceptional optical clarity, giving it a combination of properties not found in glass or most other transparent plastics.
What is Polycarbonate?
Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic polymer known for combining high impact strength with optical clarity comparable to glass, a combination not commonly found together in other plastics. It is widely used as a lightweight, shatter-resistant alternative to glass across construction, electronics, automotive, and safety equipment, and can be manufactured as a solid sheet or as a hollow, multi-wall sheet, where internal air channels reduce weight and add insulation value while retaining much of the material's strength and clarity.
Teknica Products
Teknica polycarbonate carries a UL94 V-0 fire rating, the highest self-extinguishing classification for plastics, along with high light transmission (90%), UV resistance for outdoor use, and a wide operating temperature range. Mechanically, it offers high impact and shatter resistance and greater durability than glass, while remaining significantly lighter in weight. It resists surface scratching, can be cut, drilled, and bent, and is thermoformable for custom shapes. It also carries chemical resistance suited to a range of industrial environments.
